At a children's birthday party I entertain with a jolly mixture of some or all of the following, depending on what you would like and how old the children are. Above all, the most important thing is that all the children have an incredible amount of fun, everyone is thoroughly entertained and that the birthday child gets to feel very special on their birthday.
For a one-hour party I usually entertain with a 45 minute magic show and finish up with 15 minutes of games. Alternatively, if there are fifteen children or fewer, there will be time enough to make them all a splendid balloon model each at the end. Another alternative to finish the party off with is close-up magic for kids. It's all entirely up to you.
One hour parties are not usually available between 1pm and 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

All I need you to provide is a sturdy table of any description on which I place my magic case, and a nearby power supply.

Times are entirely my suggestion - I am very flexible. If there is no birthday food in the middle it doesn't matter at all, I just carry on with games and other exciting stuff straight after the magic show.
*** GREETING THE CHILDREN AND STARTING THE ENTERTAINMENT ***
I first meet and greet the children as they arrive, getting to know them by making a few balloon animals, hats and flowers, and entertaining with a few fast and funny magic tricks.
Plus a moment too where children can meet one of my puppets - usually Stinky the Bird, Colin the Raccoon or both!
*** THE MARVELLOUS COMEDY MAGIC SHOW ***
I then sit them down and launch into my marvellous comedy magic show (with loads of fun audience participation). I find 45 minutes is a good length of time in which to do a show, but I can always do longer or shorter on request.
My magic show is full of fun and it's innovative too. Most of my magic involves getting children up to help me out with my comical conjuring shenanigans, and practically all of it involves the whole audience joining in with the magic ... or telling me how to do it properly when I keep getting it wrong! I have lots of different marvellous magical routines for lots of different age ranges.
*** BALLOON ANIMALS, MODELS, HATS, WANDS AND OTHER CREATIONS ***
After the magic show, after an hour into the party, the children sit down for birthday tea as provided by the parents. I never take a break in the middle of the party while the children eat. Once the magic show has finished I go straight into entertaining round the tables (though I do need about 2 or 3 minutes first just to clear the table of magic - thanks).
I take this opportunity to make balloon models for them round the tables. My fun balloon hand-outs include dogs, cats, lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants, flying mice, rabbits, dinosaurs, horses, pigs, bees, wasps, snakes, dragons, butterflies, flowers, teddy bears, flowers, swords, fairy wings, magic wands and about seven different kinds of hat too (including my current favourite, the utterly hilarious "duck hat")
It usually takes about 30 minutes to make balloons for twenty children (some of my brilliant balloon creations take just one balloon, but many take three balloons or more). If not all the children have a balloon by the end of party food I can always make more balloons at the very end of the party and play games for a slightly shorter time.
If there's time, I often also entertain with clowning-style tomfoolery round the tables, and close-up magic for kids.
